Mr Morrison completed his basic medical training at The University of Sheffield, and was one of the top students in his year. He was also awarded a First Class Honours degree.
Mr Morrison started his ophthalmology career in Brighton, Leicester, and Edinburgh. He was a Senior Specialist Registrar at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, where he also undertook further advanced training as a Fellow in ophthalmic plastic surgery. This was followed by a fellowship in paediatric ophthalmology at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London Children’s Hospital and King’s College Hospital, London.
Mr Morrison did research in Scotland for The Department of Health on a major national study into congenital eye malformations, and wrote his MD thesis with the University of Edinburgh
